LECTURE/SEMINAR CLASSES
Western Theatre History I and II- Covering Western Theatre's development from origins to the present.
Theatre of India, China, and Japan- An overview of the major traditional and modern theatre traditions in South and East Asia.Â
Script Analysis- Breaking down playtexts for maximum understanding of structure, character, and language.
Dramaturgy and Criticism- A look at dramatic structure, theory, research, and criticism from the dramaturg's point of view.
Production Dramaturgy- An exploration of the application of dramaturgy to the play in production with a focus on serving the cast and crew as well as the audience.
Introduction to the Theatre- Broad overview of the development and practice of global theatre with a focus on jobs in the theatre.
LABORATORY CLASSES
Stage Combat- Basic instruction in creating the illusion of violence onstage in a safe, believable, and theatrically viable manner from the perspective of various theatre artists.
Movement for the Stage- Development of the actor's body as an expressive tool through the use of Tai Chi, mime, spatial awareness, stage presence, and gesture.
Acting I- Creation of fundamental insights into the craft of acting including basic behavioral and imaginative skills as well as the development of a practical method for creating simple belief and playing an action.
Public Speaking and Communication- Researching, writing, and delivering a series of public speeches on various topics of import to 21st Century citizens.
In addition to these courses, other theatre classes can be developed.
